WELCOME TO THE DONOHOUE RESEARCH LABORATORY

MY RESEARCH PROGRAM BROADLY CAN BE DEFINED INTO TWO MAJOR BRANCHES

Air Quality and Methane Emission in the Appalachia Shale Basin

Deanna Donohoue, Lawrence University

Steve Hovan, IUP and Katie Farnsworth, IUP

The Appalachia Basin is located near IUP, 55 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, and is densely packed with more than 7,700 oil and gas wells, making it an ideal field site to investigate the impacts of mining on air quality and atmospheric composition. We will use and a ground-based, mobile laboratory platform, ARTEMIS, flow rate analysis of leaking infrastructure, and other methods of geochemical analysis to make in roads in our understanding of emission and their impacts in the Applalachia Basin.

This project will broaden my lab’s current research capabilities and is funded by the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium, WSGC (which is funded by NASA). Furthermore, the project will provide field research experience to two undergraduate students, Elizabeth Bridgwater and Fry Intia.

Recent Research Projects

Here are a few of the projects students have worked on in my lab.
